1. They are part of your team. Give them challenging tasks, ask for their opinion, and include them in plans and calls. (You might have to get creative in when you have those calls!) Consider how they will progress in their career with your company.
2. It's easy to start expanding your team globally, but managing globally is a real challenge - like WFH on steroids. Accountability must be baked in. Consider building out entire teams, with leads and mentorship in each major time zone - your team members will need someone to support them. That someone needs to be awake when they are.
3. Don't force people to work your time zone. Just don't.
4. Learn about their culture and how they work best. This isn't so different from onboarding a new employee locally and saying things like "How do you like to receive feedback?" Care. Read about best practices in working with people in that country.
5. Enjoy getting to know them! Consider traveling regularly to visit or setting up a global in-person event.
